

Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar, born on 24 April 1973, is an Indian former international cricketer and captain of the Indian national team. He is considered one of the greatest batsmen in cricket history. He has scored over 18,000 runs each and over 15,000 total runs in both ODI and Test his cricket, making him the all-time leading scorer for his runs. He also holds the record for the most Most Valuable Player Awards in international cricket. Known for his huge following and described by ESPNcricinfo as “the most respected player in the world”, Tendulkar is sometimes referred to as the “god of cricket” in India.
Tendulkar started playing cricket at the age of 11 and made his Test match debut against Pakistan in Karachi on 15 November 1989 at the age of 16, representing Mumbai domestically and India internationally for almost 24 years. In 2002, midway through his career, Wisden ranked him the second best Test hitter of all time behind Don Bradman and the second best ODI hitter of all time behind Bib Richards. Later in his career, Tendulkar was part of his India team where he won the 2011 Cricket World Cup. He had previously been named “Player of the Tournament” in the 2003 edition of the tournament.
